Understanding Meta Permissions
To use Inkie’s autoposting features with Instagram and Facebook, you’ll need to connect your accounts through Meta’s secure system. This guide explains exactly what that involves, what permissions are requested, and why — and most importantly, what’s not being accessed.
Before You Start: You’ll Need a Facebook Business Page
Even if you only want to post to Instagram, Meta requires that your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page. This is how their system works — not something we can bypass.
If you don’t yet have a Business Page, you can follow our step-by-step guide here:

Once that’s in place, you’ll be able to connect everything properly and post directly from Inkie to both Facebook and Instagram.
Why This Is Done Through Meta
Meta (Facebook’s parent company) designed this connection process to keep your accounts secure. You’re not handing over passwords — you’re giving permission through what’s called an OAuth connection.
That means:
Inkie never sees or stores your login details
We cannot access your personal Facebook profile or inbox
You stay in control and can disconnect any time
This is the same secure system used by tools like Buffer, Later, and Hootsuite.
What You’re Giving Permission For (And Why)
Here’s what Meta shows, and what each item actually means for your Inkie account:
1. Access profile and posts from the Instagram account connected to your Page
Lets Inkie view your existing posts so we don’t repeat content and can show your feed inside the dashboard.
2. Upload media and create posts for the Instagram account connected to your Page
This enables Inkie to publish content to your Instagram on your behalf — nothing goes out without your approval.
3. Access insights for the Instagram account connected to your Page
Gives access to stats like likes, reach, and engagement. Helps you track performance without switching apps.
4. Create and manage content on your Facebook Page
Allows Inkie to post directly to your Facebook Business Page using the content we generate for you.
5. Read content posted on the Page
Helps us avoid repeating posts or clashing with already-scheduled content.
6. Show a list of the Pages you manage
If you manage more than one Facebook Page, this helps you pick the right one. We don’t use this for anything else.
7. Access insights for your Facebook Page
Same as the Instagram insights — just post-level stats. Helpful if you want to see what’s working.
You’re Always in Control
You can disconnect Inkie any time from your dashboard or directly via Facebook’s settings. We don’t store access — and nothing gets posted without your review.
