The ND Business

Build Your Business the Neurodivergent Way

A practical, human, slightly rebellious guide for neurodivergent founders, freelancers, makers and self-taught business owners who want to build something that actually works with their brain.

It is for people with too many ideas, a brain that does not always move in straight lines, and a deep need to build something that feels meaningful. If you have ever felt too much, too distracted, too intense, too self-taught, too late, too messy or too impossible to fit into traditional business advice, this book offers another way in.

Why I wrote it

I wrote The ND Business because I have spent years helping people start businesses, build brands, write websites and get their work into the world.

Again and again, I saw brilliant, creative, capable people get stuck on the bits nobody explains properly: what to focus on first, how to shape an offer, how to name the thing, how to price it, how to write about it, how to market it, and how to stop giving power to people who sound confident but do not understand what they are building.

This book is my attempt to make the businessy bits easier to see, understand and use, without asking you to become someone else in the process.

What’s inside

The ND Business covers the practical and emotional reality of building a business as a neurodivergent person, including:

Understanding your ND brain, purpose, overwhelm, old labels, naming your business, getting to market, pricing, branding, writing, websites, social media, marketing, AI discoverability, PR and lead magnets.

The point is not to give you one perfect formula.

The point is to help you understand enough to make better decisions, trust your instincts, spot bad advice, ask for the right help and build something that fits.

Who it is for

This book is for neurodivergent founders, late-diagnosed business owners, freelancers, creatives, makers, consultants, coaches, self-taught experts, side-project starters, overthinkers, deep feelers, accidental entrepreneurs and people who know they are capable of more than the systems around them have allowed.

It is also for anyone who loves or works with a neurodivergent person and wants to understand how much can be going on underneath the surface.

About Sophie

Sophie Boulderstone is the co-founder and CEO of Inkie. She did not get any qualifications past her GCSEs, moved to France solo at 16, travelled India solo at 18 and somehow ended up in Bollywood films, had the first of her four children at 20, opened her first business at 21, and first worked for a magazine at 23.

She has helped hundreds of people set up businesses or handle their marketing over the years, and eventually realised she had so much useful information floating around in her head that she needed to write the mutha-flipping book.

“I started reading it before bed. By 4.30am I was jumping out of bed, excited to finish it. I cannot remember the last time I read a book without putting it down. Every single page felt like Sophie was talking directly to me.”
