Inkie vs Canva: Which is better for your social media?

Canva is one of the most popular tools out there for creating graphics — and I’ll be honest, I love it. I use it myself alongside Inkie for my own social media. But the question is, how do the two tools compare? And more importantly, which one is right for you?

Canva: What it does well

  • Design playground: Canva is brilliant for creating visuals. If you like playing with colours, fonts, and layouts, it gives you everything you need.

  • All-in-one graphics: For me, it replaced Photoshop, iStock and InDesign - and at a fraction of the price.

  • Scheduling included: You can create, schedule, and post directly from Canva, which makes it handy for keeping everything in one place.

  • Crazy cheap: The pricing is one of Canva’s biggest strengths - especially compared to buying separate tools.

Where Canva falls short

  • Words aren’t its strength: Canva is all about the look, not the voice. It won’t write your captions or blog posts in your brand’s tone.

  • Surface-level scheduling: Yes, you can schedule - but it doesn’t come with AI-driven planning, content prompts, or a way to keep your posts consistent month after month.

  • Time hungry: If you’re a perfectionist (like me), Canva is fun… but it takes time. If you don’t enjoy tinkering with visuals, it can become a chore.

Inkie: Where it fits

  • AI-written captions & blogs: Inkie writes your social posts, blogs, and even newsletters in your voice - no blank-page panic.

  • Images done for you: Inkie finds and suggests images automatically. For people who don’t want to spend hours designing, this is a lifesaver.

  • Full automation: It doesn’t just create posts - it schedules and publishes them too.

  • Designed for small businesses: It’s built to take the heavy lifting off your plate so you can focus on running your business.

My verdict

For me, Canva is a joy - I love making my own visuals, and honestly, it’s my version of a hobby. But I know that’s not everyone. If you want professional-looking posts without spending hours designing, Inkie does the job for you.

The sweet spot? Use both. Inkie to create and schedule your content in your brand voice, and Canva when you want to add your personal flair to the visuals.
